Newsletter – March 2020

World Book Day

We will be celebrating World Book Day this Friday, 6th March. All children will be provided with a plain white t-shirt and they will be creating their own design, based on a favourite book, to draw onto the front. They will then be taking their t-shirts home at the end of the day (Class R children will take theirs home after their fashion show on Thursday 12th March). We are asking for a voluntary contribution of £2 towards the cost of the t-shirt.

Fundraising for Candlelighters and Sport Relief

As you may be aware, one of our children, Olivia in Class R, is currently undergoing treatment for cancer. We would like to show our support for Olivia and her family by raising money for the Candlelighters, a charity which supports families who have a child undergoing treatment for cancer. As next week (w/c Monday 9th March) is also Sport Relief week, we would like to make a donation to that charity from any money raised.

Events will be taking place throughout the week:

Monday 9th March
School Obstacle Course

Tuesday 10th March
Flapjack to buy at playtime – 20p.
Class R, Class 1 & Class 2: Cinema Evening, 3.15pm to 4.30pm, with popcorn – £1.50.

Wednesday 11th March
Milkshake to buy at playtime – 20p.
Key Stage 2 (Classes 3, 4, 5 & 6): Cinema Evening, 3.20pm to 4.30pm, with popcorn – £1.50.

Thursday 12th March
Class R Fashion Show.

Friday 13th March
Sponsored Walk around the school grounds for Sport Relief.

Children will also be bringing home a ticket for a school raffle in which prizes, including a hamper, a free MOT and tickets for Chester Zoo can be won. If you wish to take part in the raffle, simply return the ticket with your name and contact number on, along with a £1 donation. The raffle will be drawn on Friday 13th March. Additional tickets can be bought from the school office.

Parent Interviews

Parent interviews for this term will take place on Thursday 26th March. The arrangements will be the same as in Autumn term, with appointment times available from 1.00pm to 7.00pm.

Questionnaire

Children will soon be bringing home a questionnaire for parents. Governors and Senior Leaders would like to know your thoughts on a number of school-related areas. We would like you to respond to each statement by putting a tick next to ‘Strongly agree’, ‘Agree’, ‘Disagree’ or ‘Strongly disagree’. At the end of the questionnaire, there is also space for you to put any additional comments about what school is doing well or what we could do better. It would be very much appreciated if the completed questionnaires could be returned to either the school office or class teachers by Monday 9th March. Thank you.

Goodbye

Sadly, Mr Dowling has left East Ayton School for personal reasons. We thank him for his hard work and wish him well for the future.
