Headteacher – School re-opening update
Dear Parents/Carers,
It has now been confirmed that children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 will be returning to school next Monday, 1st June, and in my previous letter I outlined the measures we would be taking to keep the children and staff as safe as possible. I would just like to update you on some additional measures which we would like to put in place.
Please could I ask that children who are having packed lunch do not bring a packed lunch box or drinks bottle from home, but that the packed lunch is put in a disposable bag which can be thrown away as soon as lunch is finished. Children will be provided with a drink in a disposable cup at school.
Children should not bring anything into school from home, e.g, pencil cases, books, PE kits etc., and they should not take anything home from school.
At the start of the day, we would ask that children are dropped off at the gate at the entrance to the playground. At the end of the day we would like children to be picked up at the old front entrance to school, which now leads into the library. If parents are waiting for any length of time we would ask that social distancing guidelines are followed.
Children do not need to wear school uniform. They do need to wear something that can be washed easily and regularly, but is still appropriate for school and keeps them covered if they are out in the sun.
I am grateful to all those parents who have contacted school to inform us of their intentions regarding a return to school. I absolutely appreciate that this has been an almost impossible decision to make for many of you. We are still waiting for guidance on the return to school of children in other year groups. All we can say at this stage is that it will be impossible for us to accommodate children from other year groups while maintaining the current social distancing measures for Reception, Yrs 1 and 6, simply due to a lack of space.
Thank you so much to those parents who have supported school in a number of ways during this extremely challenging time, the support has been very much appreciated by everyone at school.
Please stay safe and well.
Yours sincerely,
Mr. Johnson
