Coronavirus letter – 17/03
17th March 2020
Dear Parents / Carer,
We are writing to inform and reassure you of the proactive steps school is taking to protect our community during the current outbreak of the coronavirus. Although school remains open, we are faced with some significant challenges. In line with Government advice, please do not bring your child to school if they, or anyone in your household, has a new persistent cough or high temperature/fever. We really would appreciate your support with this as we try and minimise the risk to children and staff.
While school remains open, we have to ensure that we have enough staff to look after your child safely. This is a fluid situation and if we have to make a decision to close the school because of staff absence we will inform you immediately.
To minimise the risk to children and staff, we are postponing the following until further notice:
– Parent Interviews.
– SEN reviews.
– Sports fixtures.
– Concerts/Performances.
– Visiting companies e.g. Rainforest/Egypt.
– Swimming.
East Barnby are currently waiting for advice from County Hall on whether they are to close. We will keep you informed of the situation as we get further information.
Furthermore, there will be some changes to school procedures, these are as follows:
– School will be open at 8.45am from tomorrow, Wednesday 18th March. We would ask parents not to gather on the playground but to send children straight into school.
– No whole-school assemblies.
– Separate KS1/KS2 playtimes.
– Staggered lunchtimes.
We both want to assure you that your child’s health and safety is our priority.
Yours sincerely,
Mr D. Johnson, Headteacher
Mrs Samantha Hay, Chair of Governors
